'The Hitcher'
(Sean Bean, Sophia Bush, Zachary Knighton, et al / R / 93 mins / Rogue Pictures)

Overview: While driving across the desert, Jim (Zachary Knighton) and Grace (Sophia Bush) stop by the side of the road to pick up a hitchhiker — who turns out to be a murderous psychopath (Sean Bean). While the couple quickly ditches their would-be assassin, the maniacal killer follows them along the dusty backroads and they engage in a nasty game of cat-and-mouse. A remake of the cult horror film starring Rutger Hauer, C. Thomas Howell and Jennifer Jason Lee.

Verdict: Surprisingly well-crafted (honestly!), this remake of 'The Hitcher' is definitely not the disaster it could've been - or has been heralded as being in most all the press!! The basic premise of these cute college kids picking up a hitchhiker, at night, in the pouring rain is still the heart of the movie. Why they do this when he's just standing in the road and not moving is STILL beyond us, but then the movie wouldn't go anywhere if they didn't! The guy doesn't even move when they almost accidentally run him over. Anyway, naturally he turns out to be more than dangerous! Watch it with a friend, but on the drive home please be careful who you choose to pick up!
