'V For Vendetta'
(Natalie Portman, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Rea, Stephen Fry, John Hurt, et al / R / 93 mins / Warner Bros.)

Overview: Based on Alan Moore's graphic novel, the story is set in the futuristic fascist nation of Great Britain; a terrorist called V (Hugo Weaving) violently rebels against the restrictive government with the help of a woman named Evey (Natalie Portman) whose life he has saved.

Verdict: 'V For Vendetta' is quite literally a bombs-away delirious avenger fantasy tale, in which Portman's personal awakening is simultaneously uplifting and harrowing. Compelling, rousing, whilst controversial and gleefully subversive, the film is literally seething with incendiary images. And although true hardcore fans of the graphic novel will probably have so much to say about 'this' not being there, and 'that' having been needlessly added, the film still ensures that there will at least be one blockbuster hit this year!
