'Tamara'
(Jenna Dewan, Katie Stuart, Matthew Marsden, Chad Faust, et al / R / 85 mins / LGF)

Overview: Some bored teenagers decide to play a crazy prank on one of the dorks at school, but it backfires … and the girl ends up dead. So the kids decide to bury the body, but there's a complication. The girl was a witch, and she shows up at school the next day.

Verdict: OK, I rather liked this flick, but that may be down to the fact that I interviewed both the Writer and Director just days apart of each other ... and that some of the revealed behind-the-scenes info ensured that this gore flick got a second viewing soon thereafter! That all said, 'Tamara' is definitely a low-budget horror film that has big time ambitions swimmingly positioned throughout its entire run time. People have passed the obvious judgement that this is nothing short of a 'Carrie' knockoff. But I would say that as much as the premise remains similar, that 'Tamara' more than holds her own head high. Sure the repetitive pleasures of the horror genre are easily apparent, but then again, why wouldn't they be?! Check this great, imaginative flick out today and do yourself a favor along the way ... dim the lights, grab a beer, and just don't take it all too seriously! And you'll have a great time!
