'Saw II'
(Donnie Wahlberg, Franky G., Glenn Plummer, Emmanuelle Vaugier, et al / R / 85 mins / Lions Gate)
Overview: Serial killer Jigsaw is back, only this time instead of locking up two people in a room, he's got eight victims. They're all complete strangers and must play a disturbing game to determine who, if anyone, survives.
Verdict: In truth, 'Saw II' improves on all of the first film's problem areas, while leaving intact everything that was good about the concept. That said, and providing your standards aren't too high, 'Saw II' is also a worthy follow-up to its grisly predecessor! Some have said that to fully enjoy 'Saw II' all you have to do is simply grab the scalpel from under the chair, carve a hole in your forehead, and remove your frontal lobe! That's a littl harsh, for my liking though! That also said, greater deliberation was obviously given to the marketing than the screenplay of this gory sequel!
