'Meet The Fockers'
(Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Dustin Hoffman, Teri Polo, Blythe Danner, Barbra Streisand / PG-13 / 111 mins / Universal)

Overview: Ex-CIA man Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) has given permission for his daughter (Teri Polo) to wed male nurse Greg Focker (Ben Stiller), and now he's taking his wife (Blythe Danner) to Detroit to meet his future son-in-law's parents (Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman).

Verdict: The funniest thing about 'Meet the Fockers' is its edge-skirting title! But at least there's the welcome sight of Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, as relaxed as you've seen them in years! Of course, 'Meet The Fockers' is not the sort of mayhem we were hoping for, but is very much so a welcome antidote to the crop of serious, awards-caliber movies released during December! Mind you, if you're looking to be ultimately truthful about this film, let's put it another way: 'Meet The Fockers' has assembled a historic, once-in-a-lifetime cast, then stranded them in the laziest, most mercenary kind of sequel imaginable! Cheap fun at its true finest and great fodder for a boring, rainy day!
