'Cellular'
(Kim Basinger, Chris Evans, William H. Macy, Jason Statham / R / 98 mins / New Line)
Overview: A man (Chris Evans) recieves a call on his cell phone, and when he answers it, a woman (Kim Basinger) tell him she's been kidnapped and that she's going to be killed soon. The kidnapper (Jason Statham) has also gone after her husband and son, she tells the man. She needs serious help, but there's a problem — she has no idea where she is. Cell phone batteries don't last forever, so the race is on.
Verdict: Wow! The whole 'Cellular' thing skims along on suspension of disbelief, like the madly busy climax of an action film stretched out to feature length! In fact, if you think you've seen this all before, you have as this is a tepid recycling of old film noir chestnuts at every turn! And there just isn't a ring of credibility to be found anywhere and so 'Cellular' becomes nothing more than a model of how big movies go wrong!
