'Along Came Polly'
(Ben Stiller, Jennifer Aniston, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Debra Messing, Alec Baldwin, Hank Azaria / PG-13 / 90 mins / Universal)
Overview: Reuben (Ben Stiller) watches his wife, Lisa (Debra Messing), run off with a French man (Hank Azaria) on their honeymoon, and then sadly returns to New York City, where he works at an insurance company. Reuben is behind his company's flawless risk-analysis software, but he also uses it to manage his life, so he's a bit gun-shy when he meets a new woman, Polly Prince (Jennifer Aniston).
Verdict: 'Along Came Polly' has plenty of funny moments, but there's no chemistry between stars Ben Stiller and Jennifer Aniston - shocker! As usual, Stiller elicits the requisite sympathy but is hamstrung by leading-man expectations and this film too often feels like someone is slowly jamming your face into something unpleasant!! In all honestly, brutal honesty, the story loses credibility long before the gags stop coming ... which kinda mirrirs Stillers last attempt at this in the horrid 'Duplex'!
