'Scary Movie 3'
(Charlie Sheen, Anna Faris, Leslie Nielsen / PG-13 / 93 mins / Dimension)

Overview: The third installment in the Scary Movie spoof franchise pokes fun at sci-fi thrillers and sees TV news reporter Cindy Campbell (Anna Faris) investigating mysterious crop circles on the farm of Tom Logan (Charlie Sheen). Other Cindy subplots that will ring a bell involve a mysterious videotape that kills one of her friends and an encounter with a prophet named Orpheus (Eddie Griffin), who tells Cindy she's "the one" and must help the president (Leslie Nielsen) prevent an alien invasion.

Verdict: To be quite frank, even the usually reliable Leslie Nielsen looks baffled by his involvement in this dud! In fact, the barrage of jokes and references in 'Scary Movie 3' flies by so thick and so fast that there's usually no time to react to one gag before two more have passed and too often repeats and belabors jokes that are merely OK! And, as you would expect, after awhile, yet another crippling blow to the crotch somehow loses its impact! 'Scary Movie 3' generates about five good laughs for the effort, but come the finale, clearly understands the concept of a spoof but not the concept of a satire.
