'Bruce Almighty'
(Jim Carrey, Jennifer Aniston, Morgan Freeman / PG-13 / 93 mins / Universal Pictures)

Overview: Bruce is a whiny guy who questions once too often why God gives him so much grief. He is suddenly given almighty power for one week to teach him how difficult it is to run the world. Comedy ensues as the guy misuses and then tries to harness his awesome power.

Verdict: This is the rubber-faced, rubber-limbed Carrey of old, and it's a treat to watch his brilliant clowning, no matter how juvenile it is! There is about Jim Carrey a desperate urgency that can be very funny, as he plunges with manic intensity after his needs and desires. The gags here in 'Bruce Almighty' range from silly to clever, but they're almost always well executed. And the sequence with the dog 'learning' to use the bathroom like a human being, well, absolutely f**king hilarious! 'Bruce Almighty' will have you spring-cleaning your lungs with laughter!!
