'Identity'
(John Cusack, Amanda Peet, Ray Liotta / R / 114 mins / Sony Pictures)
Overview: James Mangold (Girl, Interrupted) directs a cast that includes John Cusack, Amanda Peet, and Ray Liotta in this mystery thriller about a group of strangers stranded in a motel during a storm. As the weather worsens, guests of the hotel turn up dead. With the death toll rising, it becomes clear that it's no coincidence that these 10 strangers were drawn to this hotel.
Verdict: 'Identity' is a movie that seems to be on autopilot for the first two acts and then reveals that it was not, with a third act that causes us to rethink everything that has gone before! In essence, 'Identity' builds steadily from its smarter-than-your-average-horror-film beginnings to a genuinely cunning psychological thriller and will appeal to both horror aficionados and those looking for a good mystery. But beware, for the film features a twist ending that will be as painfully obvious to some as it will be a complete surprise to others!
