Sweet Home Alabama
(Reese Witherspoon, Josh Lucas / PG-13 / 95 mins / Touchstone)
Overview:A young woman flees from Alabama to reinvent herself in New York, leaving behind her "white trash" upbringing and husband. She finds herself becoming a city socialite and is happy with her Park Avenue boyfriend. Everything goes perfectly until he proposes to her, forcing her to return home to tell her parents and get a divorce. But the trip back awakens memories of her past, and she must choose between her new life and the life she left behind.
Verdict:This is easily the feel-good movie of the year and stars one of the hottest young female actresses on the circuit (Witherspoon) and one of the hottest young male up-and-comers (Lucas) in a story of what might have been and what will be ! ’Sweet Home Alabama’, originally meant to star Charlize Theron in the Witherspoon role, is just one of those amazingly heartfelt movies that keeps you watching throughout and even manages to pierce the occasional tear duct too ! Coming into theatres later than expected (9/27), ’Sweet Home Alabama’ is one film that won’t leave you shaking your head and asking where your hard earned $9 just went when you leave !
