Tiffany Giardina Tiffany Giardina

'Our Angel Speaks'

Singer/Songwriter Tiffany Giardina is grateful for everything she has accomplished in her young life and is still looking to build on those achievements. Born in NYC on November 4th 1993, she is the eldest of 3 girls.

By the age of 5, Tiffany was already acting and singing. Theater was the introduction that lead her to a singing career. Tiffany’s unique pop/rock sound is complimented by her well-known angelic vocal style.

Tiffany grew up with the very popular Jonas Brothers and has maintained a special relationship with the trio. You will love and appreciate Tiffany for her warm gentle spirit, continuous smiling and willingness to give a helping hand. Foundations that are important to Tiffany include Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation and the Cooley Anemia Foundation and The Ronald McDonald House in NYC.

Currently, Tiffany Giardina has just recorded her new full-length album, and has 2 new songs featured on the upcoming movie “Another Cinderella Story” starring Selena Gomez. Look out for “No Average Angel,” her new album, in stores now!

Taking some time out recently with the lady herself, and knowing that she isn't exactly 'old,' I first wondered what had been her earliest musical influences growing up? "I did attend my first concert when I was 6-years-old at the Jones Beach theater, and that was Britney Spears. A lot of time has passed since then and tonight I am actually going to see her in New Jersey. I love the way she moves and she can really entertain a crowd. I admire most artists because I realize how hard it is. I actually started out singing opera at a very young age and love Renee Flemming."

"Currently, I am obsessed with Pat Benatar and her music; she so far is my greatest music influence. But I like to be exposed to as much music as possible."

For the Average Joe who may not have heard of you and was thinking of buying your upcoming CD, how would you yourself describe your sound? "I think I have a New York kind of vibe, which translates into my music and videos. I love rock and pop/rock and put my own spin into it."

Most of the press on you has labeled you as this "tween rocker" ... so, is this a fair assumption on who you are? "I love to rock and I think that not only kids will like my album, but their parents will as well. As for the age factor, I am 15 and I am comfortable being 15, so it's fine with me."

Please tell us more about this new album and what it takes out of someone as young as you to write, record, and sing your way through it's recording process - for possibly months?! "It’s a long process that starts with the right songs, then the right producer (or in my case producers), mixer and so on. I was lucky to have the label’s help and support in the process."

OK, so which turned out to be your favorite track and why? And, who chose the cover songs that you sing? Were they your choices? "Honestly, every week I have a new favorite, but I tend to always go back to the title track "No Average Angel" because it best describes me as a person. Mark Eichner, President of 785 Records, was very instrumental in the making of this album and suggested most of the covers."

"I think they came out so cool. I love the Bangles song “Eternal Flame," “Lollipop” and "Candy," which was co-written by Denise Rich. “Candy” is so much fun to perform and kids really go wild when I sing it."

Indeed, how easy (or hard) is it to create a new, vibrant, wanted-by-the-public sound that both builds on and surpasses the musical wonderment's/accomplishments that preceded it within the industry? "It's not really what I was thinking about when I started, to have a new vibrant sound. I just wanted to get out there and be me. I think every creative person is different and it's my gut instinct to just be myself. I was fortunate to have really talented people around me, who believed in me. The response from the school and camp tours have been awesome, and just to see the kids' faces light up and dance with me makes it all so worth it."

Are you still taken aback, being how young you are, that Disney keep asking you to sing songs on their soundtracks? I mean, what an honor. What went thru your head the first time they came knocking?! "I am with an independent label, and it’s an honor to be a part of an organization that treats their artists like family and is dedicated to artist development."

"Doing the 'Tinker Bell' soundtrack for Disney, was a dream come true as well, I love Tink. Being on the Radio Disney top 30 right now, and moving up every week, is so awesome. It’s very surreal to hear myself on the radio, for sure."

Taking a step away from music, how did you get involved in doing comedy sketches for Saturday Night Live?! And, what was one of your most enjoyable scenes that you got to act out? "I did some Theater growing up, and did some funny commercials and the SNL sketches was part of that time for me. I was just an extra, but it was a fun night."

"My favorite acting experience was doing The Sound of Music with my friend Nick Jonas. We played brother and sister and just have a lot of great memories. The whole cast was amazing and talented."

You are also heavily into your charity work ... so, what got you first involved in the charities you work to aid? "Well, basically, by example, my parents give back, and its something that comes naturally. I got an idea one day when I was 10 to have kids bring a gift for the Ronald McDonald House instead of a birthday present for me, and I went to the RMH and gave them out and felt so good. I love how good it feels to make a difference in other kids life. I also support Gabriella's angel foundation, because I know the family and love them. It's an honor to be a part of it."

OK, if asked to record one for charity, what cheesy pop/rock song (from the '80s or '90s!) would you love to cover today (nothing you did for this album either!) ... and why?! "At this moment I am working on "Don’t U Want Me Baby" by Human League and it's really fun to sing. I am rehearsing it with a great band called Push Play. The 80s had so many cool artists then, and that sound is relevant again today."

Lastly, and throwing you a journalistic curve ball, Exclusive Magazine love Penguins ... do you?! "I do love penguins! Last year we searched all over the Bronx Zoo for them and for some reason they were not there, and I was really disappointed. Maybe they back there now, I will take a visit there and check for you!"
