'The Starter Wife - Season Two, Episode One'

The Emmy Award-winning hit original, 'THE STARTER WIFE,' starring Debra Messing returns this Fall focusing on the post-divorce adventures of Molly Kagan (Messing) as she begins a new chapter in her life.

On the heels of its stellar ratings and awards success, USA has brought back the hit miniseries of 2007 as a series with ten exciting episodes, with Emmy Award-winner Messing returning to star and now serving as executive producer.

This time filmed entirely in Los Angeles reprising their roles are three-time Emmy Award-winner Judy Davis (“Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadow”) as Joan McAllister and Chris Diamantopoulos (“Behind the Camera: Mork & Mindy”) as Rodney Evans – Molly’s two best friends.

Also returning this season as a special guest star is Joe Mantegna (“Criminal Minds”) as Lou Manahan, former studio head and former boyfriend of Molly. Davis won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Joan in 2007.

In truth I had lost track of this series since it was originally televised but was looking foward to seeing what happened thereafter in the storyline. And sure I was somewhat turned off by the initial previews of the new-channel show - over the top smiles, laughs, prat falls, etc. - but once viewing it (on my season two, episode one screener) it has to be said that Debra Messing's energy is beyond entertaining (indeed without being over the top!) and fills the small screen endearingly.

A lot of this show was readdressing the facts stated / laid out from the season finale last time around on USA Network, but once we'd moved on from there we were in new territory. This is when it got more in its own skin and Messing became her own entity. Sure she over ran scenes on a regular basis, used that comic smirk of hers once too often, but its the underlying slyness to her comedic timing that rocks this show. Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

'THE STARTER WIFE' will premiere as a two-hour episode on Friday, October 10 at 9/8c on USA Network.
