GET Interactive today announced the development of a new advertising platform that for the first time delivers a real-time consumer shopping experience directly into any video content on the Web or in a mobile environment.
The company is working with brand advertisers and content producers to enable the identification of products in video content and provide audiences with the opportunity to purchase products directly from that content, without disrupting the viewing experience.
Entertainment companies are struggling to find new sources of revenue as the increasing popularity of DVRs is beginning to kill off the 30-second advertising spot and distribution channels continue to fragment. Additionally, while traditional product placement in film, television and music videos remains a strong source of revenue, it disrupts the creative process and can detract from the finished product.

How it Works: GET Interactive partners with entertainment companies to identify products in their content. Upon completion of the identification process GET Interactive contacts the brands featured in the content to determine if they wish to participate and make their products identifiable and shoppable to consumers.
GET Interactive’s platform integrates into any website or mobile device without downloading any software or registering with a third-party site. While watching video on the Internet or on a mobile phone, consumers can browse through still images of the content by clicking on the “GET Stuff NowTM” button.
Without interrupting the content being viewed, a new browser window displays still images from the content featuring brands and products identified with the “GET Shop SpotTM” Consumers simply move their mouse over the GET Shop Spot which launches a product panel including a link to a point of purchase.
The GET Interactive solution also delivers brand advertisers detailed reporting metrics to quantify the effectiveness of the product or brand placement and more effectively direct future campaigns toward ever more specific demographics.
