Design Star is back! Hopeful designers will compete for the ultimate prize: their own design show on HGTV!
I am hopelessly addicted to HGTV. It is the one reason why I refuse to give up cable despite the fact that it is pricey. I am a fanatic of House Hunters and My First Place, etc. But my favorite show on the home channel is none other than Design Star.
The first episode of the show debuted last night (Sunday, July 19) and it looks like we are in for a good season. Candace Olson, Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder are acting as the judges for this season and they aren't afraid to argue with each other over the good and the bad.
This season is taking place in Hollywood and the contestants are staying the Chatsworth estate which was once home to Lucille Ball, Frank Sinatra and other Hollywood elite. Their first challenge was to makeover the home with a $50,000 budget, biggest budget in Design Star history.
Several of the designs were bold and bright while others were more predictable. One team bit off a little more than they could chew and couldn't pull their room together in the allotted time.
To see the designs from last night's show and get the scoop on what's in store for the rest of the season make sure to check out the Design Star page on HGTV.com.
