Win the new WARLOCKS CD 'Surgery' ... TODAY!

Those already tuned into this frequency will be aware of The Warlocks’ albums to date: debut record Rise & Fall (released in the US only on Bomp) and 2003’s acclaimed Phoenix. However, if the success of Phoenix brought the band to a much wider audience - not least the stunning use of “Hurricane Heart Attack” in Cedric Kahn’s acclaimed French flick 'Red Lights' - then new album 'Surgery' is a massive step further on: perhaps even their masterpiece.

Rock genealogists can breathe easy: aside from the departure of token Brit drummer Danny Hole (replaced by the splendidly named Bob Mustachio); the band have only one other line-up change since Phoenix: original bassist Jenny Fraser has returned to the fold in place of Bobby Martine. As before the rest of the group lines up as JC Rees (guitar), Corey Lee Granit (guitar), Laura Grigsby (tambourine and organ), Jason Anchondo (drums), and, of course, Bobby Hecksher (guitar and lead vocals).

While 'Surgery' is hardly clean, it is certainly a sign of emotional rehabilitation, with songs drawing influence from the band’s chaotic years of touring and the personal mind-blowing experiences of Bobby’s. Moving to Los Angeles, jamming with Beck and the Brian Jonestown Massacre, dropping acid with Timothy Leary … all this and more contribute to the new sound. 'Surgery' is other-wordly and full of soul, with soothing sci-fi lullabies and the bands trademark rohypnol rock-outs.

If you would like to win a copy of this brand new CD, just answer this easy question: 'Surgery' was recorded in a series of Los Angeles Studios with which legendary producer at the helm?

Send me your answers and if you're correct you'll be in the running to win one of these new CDs! Just send us an e:mail here before September 11th with your answer and the subject title 'SURGERY CDs' to: exclusivemagazine@flash.net
