DVD/Blu ray Verdict: As in past years, a new full-length Thomas & Friends movie has now been released to the general public. Entitled, 'Thomas & Friends: Misty Island Rescue,' it's about a new Search and Rescue Centre that is being built on the Island of Sodor. And, to make this Centre special, some sturdy 'Jobi' wood is imported from Hiro's homeland of Japan, instead of using regular ones.
Indeed, all the engines are very excited and all want to help deliver the 'Jobi' logs to the Rescue Centre. But, complications arise when Diesel takes the trainload of the lumber and has a close call over a seaside cliff! Thomas rescues him, of course, but the 'Jobi' wood is lost into the sea.
So, now there is no wood to build the Rescue Centre. But, and for saving Diesel, Thomas is given the job of collecting new wood from the mainland, meaning an oceangoing voyage. But, when the barge carrying Thomas comes loose from its tugboat, Thomas is lost at sea, washing ashore on a strange place known as Misty Island - a wild and wonderful island with a multitude of secret hide outs, rickety tracks and bridges!
Whilst there, Thomas soon meets the islands' inhabitants, three funny logging locos - a big, slow Class C Climax named Ferdinand, and two small twin engines known as Dash and Bash, who were sent to the island after causing trouble on the mainland. Meanwhile, out at sea, Harold and Captain carry out a search party to look for Thomas. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
