'Adventure Time: The Complete 1st & 2nd Seasons'
(Jeremy Shada, John DiMaggio, Hyden Walch, Tom Kenny, et al / Blu ray / NR / 2013 / Cartoon Network)
Overview: What time is it? It's time for 'Adventure Time: The Complete First and Second Season' Blu rays! The Cartoon Network's #1 hit comedy show and Emmy-® nominated series that centers on the post apocalyptic adventures of Finn, a human boy with a funny hat, and his friend Jake, a magic and mischievous dog!
Blu ray Verdict: As I'm sure you are all aware by now, 'Adventure Time' is a glorious stream of consciousness storytelling that delights and craddles the delight of fans of such greats as The Goon Show and Monty Python. Indeed, the show is a satire of sorts but is mostly free of pop culture references, thankfully.
Indeed, it is one of the best cartoons ever! This show is amazing if you have a great since of humor or kids! The art is amazingly attractive to children with its colorful landscape and array of hilarious Princesses and villains like the Ice King, Princess Bubblegum, Hot Dog Princess and MANY MANY more! this show is also jam packed with hilarious adult humor, some a bit raunchy at times, but trust me your kids will have no idea!
'Adventure Time' is such a wonderful example of the storytelling capabilities of the animation genre. It's so simple but that in itself allows the creators to be able to do /anything/ with it. With the combination of the artwork and the characters and the plots, there's so much potential to it and growth as the series goes on.
For the second season, it should be known that NONE of the voice talent has returned from season one for the commentaries this time. The commentators are a large group (eight or nine) of the storyboard artists/writers. It's a big group, which is nice, but all will be unknowns to most viewers. And the more interesting stories and comments are all totally edited, sorry.
And with regard the interviews they are extremely quick with the show's crew. It actually shows them watching a video that Pendelton Ward (the show's creator) put on their computer which the video itself is never revealed! Overall, the Special Features are not near as good as the ones that were on season one, but it is still good.
That all said, in truth this second season follows in the design as the first season did, of course. But this time it's the Ice King though, which is pretty cool, huh?! Wow, this Blu ray edition makes the picture far more vibrant, the sound crisp and clear. A must have for any 'Adventure Time' fan who wishes to watch their show in the best format available. These are all Widescreen Presentations (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs, and come with the Special Features of episode commentaries for all 26 season two episodes from Ward and the 'Adventure Time' team.
