'Death Ranch'
(Deiondre Teagle, Faith Monique, Travis Cutner, Scot Scurlock, Brad Belemjian , et al / DVD / R / 2021 / 4Digital Media)

Overview: In this brutal revenge horror, siblings on the run from the police take refuge at an abandoned Tennessee ranch, unaware their hideout is on the hunting grounds of a cannibalistic Ku Klux Klan cult.

DVD Verdict: 1970s USA. Three African American siblings, Brandon, Angela and Clarence, on the run from the police, take refuge at an abandoned Tennessee ranch.

But as night falls, Brandon discovers their hideout is on the hunting grounds of a cannibalistic Ku Klux Klan cult and it's not long before the siblings themselves are attacked and captured by the demented cult.

Now, it's up to Brandon to take down the bloodthirsty Klan, and save his brother and sister so they can have their bloody vengeance and escape alive.

An interesting spin on the old troupe of revenge horror movies from down the ages, 'Death Ranch' may not bring anything remarkably different to the party, but this particular style and motive of bloody revenge is most definitely a new angle, for sure.

In a most gloriously shot and conceived, early '80s splatterfest of a dark comedy horror movie, our three central characters come together, find their old family barn, settle in ... and then everything goes completely, and utterly blood red nuts after that!

With the lead acting here as good as it gets for this type of can't-be-taken-too-seriously movie, 'Death Ranch' is highly watchable from the moment things start to go wrong and is oh-so chock full of massive amounts of blood, guts, gore and eyeball removing mayhem throughout there's simply just no time to avert your eyes!

And so, in closing, once a bloody chain of horrific events is set in motion, and the threesome quickly realize that they have to orchestrate a quite horrific battle for survival, what the Director and DP have pulled off here re: the well-shot gore effects and the tight landscape that they were obviously hemmed into cinematically, the KKK body count becomes culled (nearly) every five seconds or so!

A movie that stays the course, keeps one hand firmly on the dark humor button throughout, and always keeps the body count at a delirious maximum, all gore hounds out there will definitely be more than happy with how 'Death Ranch' plays out within its structured visceral and visual aspects, trust me! This is a Widescreen Presentation (2.35:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Features of:
