'HYMN: Sarah Brightman in Concert'
(Sarah Brightman / DVD+CD/ NR / 2019 / Eagle Vision)

Overview: 'HYMN: Sarah Brightman In Concert' was captured from the Festspielhaus in the enchanted Bavarian Alps, known for its magical lakes, mountains, castles, “cuckoo clock” houses, and the historic and captivating Neuschwanstein Castle.

Conceived and created by Sarah Brightman, Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia, Beauty and the Beast), and Frank Peterson, the two-act performance is a hybrid of a musical film and a large-scale concert production.

Sarah is accompanied by her band, the Bavarian Philharmonic orchestra, a 50-voice choir and the Ludwig Ensemble of dancers, and special guest performers such as Japanese superstar Yoshiki, Vincent Niclo, Mario Frangoulis and Narcis.

DVD Verdict: I have been in love with Sarah Brightman's voice and musical abilities since she joined British dance troupe Hot Gossip on the smash hit 1978 single 'I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper'!

Watch that glittery video here now … you're welcome!

Here on the gorgeously stunning, breathtakingly sublime, golden-enriched visual and musical wonderment 'HYMN: Sarah Brightman in Concert,' the legendary soprano is accompanied by her band, the Bavarian Philharmonic orchestra, a 50-voice choir and the Ludwig Ensemble of dancers.

With delightful special guest performers including Japanese superstar Yoshiki, Vincent Niclo, Mario Frangoulis and Narcis, Sarah stands front and center, moves as if she is gliding when necessary, seemingly floats at times, and even stands atop a being-played piano!

Known for her three-octave range and for pioneering the classical-crossover music movement, Sarah Brightman has amassed global sales of more than 30 million units.

The only artist to have simultaneously topped Billboard’s dance and classical music charts, Brightman has achieved more than 180 gold and platinum awards in over 40 countries.

She is also known for her iconic star turn in The Phantom of the Opera, whose soundtrack has sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.

Sarah's 15th studio album HYMN debuted at #1 on both the Classical and Classical Crossover Billboard charts and was released on November 9th, 2018 in conjuction with her critically acclaimed world tour, 'HYMN: Sarah Brightman In Concert.'

The tour began in South America, and her self-proclaimed "evening of wonderment" has been mesmerizing concert goers throughout Mexico, US, Canada and Japan.

And having now watched it twice through, well, I can fully understand why! It is, without a shadow of a doubt, a spectacular, multiple costume and set changing, golden extravaganza that enriches the viewers eyes and ears as it unfolds before your very eyes.

This incredibly, unbelievably talented lady takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride with her music. One minute you are peaceful, serene, listening to songs that allow you to drift away into previously unexplored enchanted avenues of your mind (ala 'Who Wants To Live Forever'), the next you are 100 miles high, soaring along to her powerhouse vocals (ala 'Fly to Paradise').

Sarah obviously has a rather magical touch for all this as well as the voice of an Angel, of course. For the show is both an Opera and a Symphonic Experience. And both Choral and a Rock Show. And so much more, all mixed together into some phenomenally remarkable music that leaves you breathless come the finale.

Simply put, 'HYMN: Sarah Brightman in Concert' is a superb musical and visual experience by a phenomenal artist who seems to be able to sing anything no matter what the genre is.

In a world ripe with never ending negativity, this is the most perfect album to cajole any soul upwards towards an overwhelming feeling of peace, love, and joy.
