'Dead Don't Die in Dallas'
(Willam Belli, Erin Marie Garrett, Angel Martinez, et al / DVD / NR / 2019 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: A miracle pill that supposedly will cure all viral infectious diseases turns most of humanity into Zombies.

The few survivors in a small Texas town barricade themselves into an abandoned building.

It soon becomes clear that the survivors can be split into two camps: Bible-thumpers and queer folk!

DVD Verdict: As the world comes together to take a miracle pill - one that scientists say will prevent and cure HIV/AIDS just a few hours later (and just after the synchronized celebration ends, there's a sudden; and rather unsettling quiet that enwraps the world.

It's then that the whole project goes pear-shaped as everything turns bad for as it turns out everyone who took the pill now suffers from horrific side-effects!

As a few defiant, non pill-popping survivors emerge in the small Texas town of Eliasville, they find themselves seeking refuge in an abandoned building near the town's center.

Soon after Beth Anne (Willam Belli, Nip/Tuck, Criminal Minds, CSI, American Pie, etc.) and Phil (Angel Martinez) have finished barricading themselves safely inside they quickly realize they are not the sole survivors after all!

For they are now locked inside a small building with Samuel, pastor of the local "Gay is not Ok" Pentecostal church, along with his wife, Janice, and closeted son, Ethan!

While butting their proverbial heads at every turn things get even crazier upon discovering a madcap group of vigilante survivors all of whom are challenged to band together in hopes of surviving the zombie apocalypse!

With a tagline that reads: "In a zombie apocalypse the only survivors are gay people and church people, Lord help us all!" you kinda know what you're in for here from the very off.

And as much as it plays straight (sorry, couldn't resist!) with you most all the way, the dry (and yet at times slapstick) humor actually takes over and away from the zombie "fear" in the last third rather nicely.

Watch it for yourself, as it is now out on DVD and available for all those looking for a fun night in of easy-going zombie celluloid fun! Oh, and there's also a message to be found here too! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.

'Dead Don't Die in Dallas' [DVD] is out September 17th, 2019 via Mill Creek Entertainment.
