'Guns' [Blu-ray + Digital]
(Erik Estrada, Dona Speir, Roberta Vasquez, et al / Blu-ray + Digital / R / (1990) 2019 / Mill Creek Entertainment)
Overview: South American criminal Juan Degas has been using the Hawaiian Islands as his base for smuggling weapons from China to Latin America.
Tracking their target from Hawaii to Las Vegas, our agents must watch their backs while attempting to take down their prey.
Blu-ray Verdict: Personally, I am a HUGE fan of Andy Sidaris and his work. His films are simple and to the point. There are no pretensions.
He has a basic formula and even the same core groups of actors so Sidaris fans expect nothing less than the high caliber norm from him. He always has large breasted women, many loud and colorful (and most times needless!) explosions (again, whether they make sense or not), big guns and former TV actors (this one has Erik Estrada).
The basic plot here in 'Guns' involves a groups of female agents who also run a plane chartering company in Hawaii. They have to hunt down a gun runner who has ordered hits on a few people and leaves a Jack Of Diamonds as his calling card (hence the character's name Jack Of Diamonds, of course!).
Ergo, a bad guy wants to smuggle next-generation technology weaponry into the United States, but he's decided to do it through Miami, which means that he needs to get the L.E.T.H.A.L. Agents out of the way - starting with Donna and newcomer Nicole (Roberta Vasquez, who was Pantera in the brilliant 'Picasso Trigger').
So, we get to fly to Vegas where we also see action in Lake Havasu. A large part of the Vegas scenes were also filmed at the just opened (as of filming) Rio Hotel, if that fact tickles you to know!
Again, and personally, I enjoyed the scene of the bazooka shooting in the showroom with no one else in the hotel hearing it! The scenes of them running into a Las Vegas hotel with a crap load of guns, Cynthia Brimhall singing offkey (again, as she sings in just about every Sidaris film and always a wee bit offkey for some reason!) and, oh yeah, the transvestite hitmen!
So, even though this isn't the best Sidaris, it's still excellent for those seeking mindless explosions, motorcycle chases, nudity and the aforementioned transvestite hitmen!! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
