'Trading Paint' [Blu-ray+DVD+Digital]
(John Travolta, Michael Madsen, Toby Sebastian, Shania Twain, et al / Blu-ray + DVD + Digital / R / 2019 / LGF)

Overview: Veteran race car driver Sam Munroe and his son, a fellow driver from a small town overcome family and professional conflicts, balancing competition, ego, resentment and a racing nemesis to come out stronger on the other side.

Blu-ray Verdict: In my humble opinion, after watching 'Trading Paint' (which is still a daft title) it was nice to see Travolta back on my small screen.

Especially as this time he's back in a more human role dealing with, give or take, a more down to earth and real life situation, shall we say.

Rooted firming in Americana folklore of storytelling, and chock full of wondrous leadership skills and learning moments, 'Trading Paint' is about as close as one can get to the real world racing championships on local circuits that anyone could get without it being a documentary, me thinks.

Travolta plays an emotional role as a father who works hard, struggles to have a relationship, a bond even with his son, Cam (Toby Sebastian). Of course, as in any movie the plot has to include a rivalry with the village idiot (Madsen) who tries to divide the family by pitting the son against the father.

But that's ok for as much as it's expected the way it's played out between the father and son characters allows for true American family values to seep through at all times.

Basically, as we should all know, family should never be disloyal to family. So if Linsky (Madsen) can't have that, why not cause an accident? But instead of breaking the spirit of father and son, they unite, of course.

There's lot of scenes where stock cars are barreling down the speedway, threatening to either smash into one another or dangerously flip completely, and add those to some deserved nods of acting from our leads and we've got ourselves one heck of a movie here folks!

Oh, and as for the role here of Shania Twain (a woman in her 50's and yet who looked no more than 30 here!) as Becca is such a bonus treat for both her fans and the entire overall cinematic experience, trust me.

Filmed in Hueytown and Bessemer Alabama, Hueytown, Alabama is the hometown of Nascar's, Alabama Gang and that is only good for the film as everything was there for the cast and crew to submerge within. This is a Widescreen Presentation (2.39:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.

The 'Trading Paint' Blu-ray and DVD will be available May 21st, 2019 via Lionsgate Films for the suggested retail price of $22.99 and $19.98, respectively.
