'The Last Appeal'
(John Eric Bentley, Jason Sims-Prewitt, Kimberly Arland, Robert Wu, Marcus LaVoi, et al / DVD / NR / 2019 / Mill Creek Entertainment)

Overview: Based on the 1999 play Uncommon Pardon by Lorianne Taylor in which women on death row experience life changing stress and the joy of salvation.

DVD Verdict: 'The Last Appeal' is a powerful faith based drama set in the world of death row where prisoners face insurmountable legal battles, family struggles and mortality.

Titus Freeman enters this daunting world determined to work the legal system to escape his sentence but discovers a new life beyond the grave. Outside of this world is Titus' victim's wife Trisha who works the legal system to enforce his execution.

Her ambition covers a darker secret that only her late husband knew about. It is not until this life altering secret is exposed that Trisha can escape a prison of her own.

In truth, I really enjoyed and get invested in this Made-For-TV movie straight from the off. The actors take their character roles seriously, the sets are sturdy, believable, and the court room plays out much like an episode of Law & Order.

A movie very much about forgiveness, 'The Last Appeal' is a powerful tale about the power of God’s forgiveness, is taken seriously at all times, and is, for my money, and a nice addition to the world of faith-based films. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
