'Colors Of Love Tour - Live in Las Vegas'
(Brian Culbertson / Blu-ray / NR / 2019 / BCM Entertainment)

Overview: The electric entertainer captured his hit-filled Colors of Love Tour in Las Vegas for his first live concert video that dropped Valentine's Day as a stunning Blu-ray and double CD.

Blu-ray Verdict: For those not in the know, Brian Culbertson is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer known for his distinct brand of genre-crossing contemporary jazz, R&B and funk.

Mining the urban sounds of musically-rich Chicago, he began his musical studies on piano at age eight and quickly picked up several other instruments by the time he was twelve, including drums, trombone, bass and euphonium.

Inspired by the iconic R&B-jazz-pop artists of the 1970s like Earth, Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Chicago, David Sanborn and others, Culbertson started composing original music for his seventh grade piano recital and hasn’t stopped since.

Amassing 30 Billboard No. 1 singles (and counting!) and a deep catalogue of 18 albums, most of which have topped the Billboard contemporary jazz charts, Culbertson always brings his very best in all of his broad-ranging musical and creative endeavors.

Culbertson's first ever live concert video, 'Colors Of Love Tour - Live in Las Vegas' is out now on both Blu-ray and as a 2CD audio set.

Filmed in Las Vegas during the Colors of Love Tour, May 2018, alongside Culbertson can be found such notables as: Marqueal Jordan, Eddie Miller, Tyrone Chase, Joewaun Scott, and Chris Miskel.

After the cold opening of Culbertson walking the Vegas strip filmed overhead by a drone, the live show is quickly upon us thereafter.

Taking the stage to, what has to be said, some rather politely gentle applause, the precision piano work of the ebbing and soaring opener 'Love Transcended' suddenly stands perfectly as a prime example that there truly isn't the faintest lapse in musical judgement here throughout the entire three act live performance.

That said, when Culbertson is up there, center stage playing his music, moving and grooving in his own world, the fact his eyes are always scanning the audience is, admittedly, a little creepy to say the least.

Not that it detracts from the overall showcasing of what an incredible talent he honestly is, but his eyes do tend to be very wild, that's all.

Regardless, and together with his blonde spikey hair and mirrorball jacket, he commands that stage quite like no other might have done before him.

And to prove that point, one of the stand out highlights, for me, through the entire three acts is the performing at the end of Act One of the title track, 'Colors Of Love.'

Introduced by Culbertson to his gathered and highly attentive fans as "... a feelgood song meant to bring people together", it's the kind of frenetic breeze of keyboard playing that you associate with him, yet somehow here it's elevated due to its live surroundings.

The other is the ridiculously funkadelic R&B and rap deluge of sounds found within the seamlessly quilted duo of 'Feelin' It' and 'Funkin' Like My Father.'

My goodness, trust me when I say that once you've finished watching this near eight minute long mash, you'll be as exhausted as the guys on stage!

Although Culbertson knew early on that he wanted to film the production, what he didn't know initially was the how and where.

After financial backing arrived upon sharing his creative vision for the project, he looked at the itinerary and circled the two-night stand in Las Vegas.

"I earmarked the Vegas dates because I knew the venue has great in-house lighting that would look amazing on camera," he says. "We recorded the audio from both nights to have as a backup, but the film crew shot only the one show, so we had to nail it in one take," he adds, with a beaming smile emblazoned.

This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Features of:

"BC Medley" from the Funk! Tour Live in Las Vegas which includes the songs:
'Back In The Day,' 'Hookin' Up,' 'Let's Get Started,' 'Do You Really Love Me?,' 'So Good,' and 'Get It On.'
• "Mile Sauce" Cartoon in it's entirety
• 'Through The Years' - In studio performance
• 'All My Heart' - live from the Sirius/XM Studios in Washington D.C.
• BC & Chris Miskel Commentary Track (over full 2-hour concert)
