'Wild Kratts: Adventures on the African Savannah'
(Martin Kratt, Chris Kratt / DVD / G / 2018 / PBS Kids)
Overview: The Wild Kratts team learns all about the relationships between predators and prey, the differences between carnivores and herbivores, and how animals adapt to their environments in two exciting Adventures on the African Savannah!
DVD Verdict: For those not in the know, Chris and Martin Kratt are brothers (in real life!) who explore the wild throughout the world to learn more about animals and share conservation information. They have three friends who travel in the Tortuga HQ with them named Aviva, Koki and Jimmy Z.
The brothers have creature power suits that allow them to experience what it's like to be the animals they find. The team helps them by creating power suit creature disks for each animal they study. They also bring them supplies and help them out of tricky situations when their adventures get dicey.
In 'Wild Kratts: Adventures on the African Savannah', after getting caught in between a grumpy rhino and an outraged elephant, Martin and Chris have a contest to determine which is stronger - elephant or rhino powers!
Featuring two episodes, the first is “The Food Chain Game” where Aviva wants to build a food web for the African Savannah, so she devises a game and Chris and Martin accept the challenge!
They will each start as a blade of grass and climb to the top of the food chain in a game of “Creature Power Suit Creature Tag.”
In the second one, “Creature Power Challenge,” after getting caught in the middle of a tussle between a grumpy rhino and an outraged elephant, Martin and Chris decide to have a contest to decide what’s stronger – elephant or rhino powers.
In short, 'Wild Kratts' is a great cartoon adventure show for kids where they can learn about new animals and why conservation is so important to the world, not just them.
Also, we get to learn fun facts, straight from the box cover art work, in this case: What do elephants in the savannah eat? The answer is that due to their habitat, savannah elephants can often be found grazing or browsing on grass, plants, and even fruit! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
