'Nature Cat: Onward and Pondward!'
(DVD / TV-Y / 2018 / PBS)
Overview: Streams, swamps, ponds, and more! Go Onward and Pondward with everyone's favorite backyard explorer extraordinaire, Nature Cat!
DVD Verdict: For those not yet in the know, Nature Cat is an American-Canadian educational animated children's television series which premiered on November 25th, 2015 on PBS.
The series is aimed at children aged 3 to 8 years old, following the adventures of four main characters: Nature Cat, Hal the Dog, Daisy the Bunny and Squeeks the Mouse.
Rightly so, the show has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing in an Animated Program" with the series debut in November achieved nearly 3.7 million viewers (and by March it had achieved 69 million video streams across online platforms).
On June 5th, 2018, the first DVD 'Onward and Pondward!' was released via PBS Kids and, just so we're all on the same page, Nature Cat has already officially been renewed for a third season (the second season premiered on January 1st, 2018).
Here in the aforementioned 'Nature Cat: Onward and Pondward!,' along with his friends Hal, Squeeks, and Daisy, the team learns where a stream begins and explores new environments along the way.
These are a few of the seven fun-filled outdoor adventures you do not want to miss:
'Welcome to Vernal Pond'
'Puddle Pool Party'
'Stream and Shout'
'Swamp Thing'
'There's Gold in Them Thar Hills'
'Earth Day Today'
'Earth Day Every Day'
Nature Cat can't wait to get outside for a day of backyard nature excursions and bravery! With the help of his friends, Nature Cat embarks on action-packed adventures full of investigation and discovery, all while encouraging children to go outdoors and explore the world around them.
I have twin 4 year-old boys who absolutely love this new PBS Kids show. They actually get up and act out all the moves that Nature Cat himself makes.
Each episode has fun, appropriate humor that keeps kids engaged and is even funny to adults and older kids - at least those with a good sense of humor! Oh, and in addition, it has great messages and information about nature. So, what more could you want for your kids to fall in love with this well designed TV show?
