'Bruce's Deadly Fingers: Special Edition'
(Bruce Lee, Chen Wai-Man, Lo Lieh, Nora Miao, et al / Blu-ray+DVD / R / (1976) 2018 / MVD Visual)

Overview: After malicious gangsters capture Bruce Lee's ex-girlfriend, a young martial artist attempts to rescue her along with the late master's book containing lethal techniques for killing with one's fingers. Plenty of kung-fu action and mayhem (including a particularly gruesome scene involving the torture of a girl with a deadly snake)!

Blu-ray Verdict: Now for the first time ever released in Widescreen High Definition and produced from a new 2K scan from the 35mm original negative, if you are a fan of the master, Bruce Lee, and other "Bruceploitation" films, then this deluxe Blu-ray+DVD combo is a must for your film collection!

After malicious gangsters capture Bruce Lee's ex-girlfriend, a young martial artist attempts to rescue her - and the late master's book containing lethal techniques for killing with one's fingers.

That said, and in complete truth, as all you Lee fans will already know anyway, the plot isn't worth explaining in the slightest! Basically, Lee plays Bruce Wong (seriously, that's his name in the movie) who is looking for "The Kung Fu Finger-Book", which is a book written by Bruce Lee that teaches the finger kung-fu style. (Why Bruce Lee didn't write something about Jeet Kune Do, the style he actually used, I don't know!)

Ok, so it's not hundred per cent foolproof, for sure. Like, the first time I watched this, being that it's dubbed, I was actually laughing at how many times they mentioned this infamous kung-fu finger-book. They mentioned it sooooo many times, it began to come across as if they were just seeing how many times they could force it into conversation! (Cue drinking game!).

There's also a chase scene ... a very slow chase scene. Pitiful actually, but it's really short, so it's over before you can finish shaking your head at it! Plus, the ending ... well, I won't give it away, but yeah, Lee finally gets his hands on the main bad guy, but be prepared for rather an abrupt climax to the film, that's for sure!

So, and in conclusion, the dubbing (and if you don't believe me, check out the special feature included, Bad Kung-Fu Dubs) and other goofiness further intensifies the entertainment value, as I hope I've successfully conveyed, and the fighting used in this film is actually real kung-fu (like the Shaw Brothers' Shaolin films); and not like Bruce Lee's usual style, it has to be said.

Oh yeah, the commentary track by Michael Worth (author, director, actor, and expert on Bruce Lee, and expert on Bruce Lee, and 'Bruceploitation films') is rather casual for my tastes, but still filled with interesting perspectives on the film and its filmmakers. A fan of the films long before they were even a "genre", Worth's insight and the new transfer makes this a must have for Lee / old school kung-fu fans. This is a brand new Widescreen High Definition, produced from a new 2K scan from the 35mm original negative presentation enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

Original Theatrical Versions
Deleted Scenes (German dialogue and English Subtitles)
