'Bubba The Redneck Werewolf'
(Chris Stephens, Fred Lass, Malone Thomas, Mitch Hyman, Gary Norris, Sara Humbert, et al / DVD / NR / (2014) 2016 / MVD Visual)

Overview: Get ready to howl at the moon with laughter as Bubba the Redneck Werewolf (Fred Lass) and a host of riotous hillbillies fight to save their town of Broken Taint from the forces of evil!

DVD Verdict: As you might well expect from a movie entitled 'Bubba The Redneck Werewolf', this is a beyond campy horror/comedy B-movie - and one that shines from A-Z! Based on the comic book of the same name created by Mitch Hyman, this movie version takes all that was good about the comic book and brings it lovingly to life here on this release from MVD Visual.

I mean, even for being a B-movie, 'Bubba The Redneck Werewolf' is a very silly movie that will have you rolling your eyes on more than 100 occasions! Why, well, let's looks at the general synopsis of the movie, shall we. Pre-Werewolf Bubba (Chris Stephens) is a night shift dogcatcher and local laughingstock who longs to win back the heart of his high school sweetheart, Bobbie Jo (Malone Thomas). But when the Devil (Bubba comic-creator Mitch Hyman) comes down to Florida, Bubba signs a deal to make himself a bad-ass, only to wake up the next morning permanently transformed into the most a monstrous Werewolf.

In order to save his town and be the hero he longs to be, Bubba will have to navigate a country crock of malicious bikers, cryptic hobos, gaseous gypsies, and even a zombie hoard - all leading up to a climactic duel with the dark prince himself!

So, well, yeah, you get where this is all headed now, but it doesn't fall into the traps other B-movie's tend to aim you at re: ludicrous nonsense. In what could well be a "cult movie" down the line, as always in these type of movies, no one is safe from this blood-stained cinematic jewel in the MVD Visual crown. And, as you could only hope, no matter what situation is at hand, the bad jokes fly left, right and center. Yep, even when the blood is spewing the cheese is never far behind!

As for Mitch Hyman (the creator of the comic book, who also does a great job of stealing the show with his own acting as he the Devil himself) he knew this material inside out, sure, but his acting chops are top notch also! He definitely steals the show here as the Devil, but that said, the entire cast is on their collective games here in 'Bubba The Redneck Werewolf'. Chock full of terrific one liners, lots of blood splatter, and a story line that, for the most part, makes absolute sense, Bubba is a movie you have to watch - with friends, with beers, and with your funny bone fully exposed for tickling! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Features of:

16 Minute Documentary: 'From Page To Screen: The Making Of Bubba The Redneck Wereworlf'
Blooper Reel
Werewolf & Devil Makeup Process Videos
