'Boonville Redemption'
(Emily Hoffman, Pat Boone, Edward Asner, et al / DVD / NR / (2015) 2016 / MVD Visual)

Overview: It's 1906 and 13 year-old Melinda is unhappy with the hand that life has dealt her. Born out of wedlock and scorned by many, Melinda desperately wants to know what happened to her real father, but no one will tell her. Determined to do all within her power to find her father, Melinda''s bravery compels some of the townspeople to reveal the dark secrets that they have kept to themselves for years.

DVD Verdict: Not your average Western, 'Boonville Redemption' is a textured movie that rolls along nicely, allows its cinematic photography and the well-crafted movie sets to tell their stories just as much as the spoken script. Lit throughout in a golden, sepia hue, the soft lighting is as much as character here as musician Pat Boone and incredible seasoned actors such as as Edward Asner, Diane Ladd and even, to a point, Richard Tyson.

As mentioned, the sets look incredible and most definitely give off the impression that the old west was living and breathing, flourishing even here when they created it, and made this time period come alive. Indeed, being that this is also a Faith Friendly movie, the message throughout of forgiveness and redemption is one that rides strong and true, head and shoulders above anything that contributes violence to the theme.

Entertaining and thought-provoking from start to finish, beginning with tragedy, and ultimately riding off into the sunset with a sense of ultimate, God-willed triumph and redemption, 'Boonville Redemption' is a movie that will touch you inside in a way that creates both warmth and compassion in equal amounts. Ultimately, 'Boonville Redemption' is a story of hope - so, I truly hope you take the time to buy/rent this wonderful movie and settle in one night to allow it to breathe new life into your own lives. It's worth the ride, of that you have my word. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
