'Dog House - The Complete Series'
(Shelley Peterson, Valentina Cardinalli, Jaimz Woolvett, Jonathan Shapiro, et al / 2-Disc DVD / PG / 2016 / Mill Creek Entertainment)
Overview: Digby is in the Dog House - literally - and none too thrilled about it. Why should he be? After all, he is a police detective, or was ... until a car accident transported his brain, voice and personality into Spot the dog. Digby makes for one wisecracking, opinionated St. Bernard who has a unique perspective on humans. Starring Jaimz Woolvett (Unforgiven, Joan of Arc).
DVD Verdict: For those not in the know, for I sure wasn't from the off of reviewing, 'Dog House' was a Canadian sitcom about a talking dog ... which contained the personality of a former cop. He lived with his late brother's family and communicated with his nephew, played by Jaimz Woolvett (pretty good as the main character). It was every bit as silly as it sounds, but was reasonably well-done, and worth a look, that's for sure.
Indeed, 'Dog House' - so my research now shows - was duly noted for its hilarious antics and breathtaking canine actions scenes. Having watched them all now, I have to say, well, Eat your heart out, Benji! Oh, and for those eagle-eyed before-they-were-stars spotters amongst you, watch closely and you'll see a young Avril Lavigne in this (Canadian) production! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
