'Goldie & Bear: Best Fairytale Friends'
(Georgie Kidder, Natalie Lander, Jim Cummings, Justine Huxley, Lesley Nicol, et al / DVD / G / 2016 / Walt Disney Studios)

Overview: Everyone knows "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," but after that story ended... a remarkable friendship began! Team up with best buddies GOLDIE & BEAR on amazing adventures as they laugh, play and learn important life lessons in wondrous Fairytale Forest.

DVD Verdict: Wow! I mean really, wow! After all these years, Disney has finally invented something a little "new" for the kids to enjoy - and they had it under their own roof for decades! Reinventing the ending of the original fairy tale, 'Goldie & Bear' is a spin-off of the old Goldilocks and the Three Bears story we were told as kids. But here, in these new stories, and just so everyone seems to get their ten cents of memory worth with the new generation of kids, other familiar characters come to play also re: The Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Three Little Pigs, of course. Overall, it's really cute!

Over seven (7) episodes, best buddies Goldie and Bear go on amazing adventures, and we follow them as they (and we) laugh, play and learn important life lessons in the wondrous, and highly-entertaining, and highly-educational Fairytale Forest. We watch as they climb a beanstalk with Jack himself, try on Little Red's famous hood, outsmart the tricky Big Bad Wolf, and so much more!

Episodes: The Birthday Chair/ Big Bear, Fee Fi Fo Shoe/ Little Gold Riding Hood, Bearís Red Shoes/ Goose Sitters, Moon Jump/ Big Good Wolf, Pinocchio-itis/ The Clubhouse That Jack Built, The Egg/ Golden Kickball, and Thumbelinaís Wild Ride/ Big Bad Houseguest.

For me, the graphics are really quite colorful, and the way the characters are drawn are similar to what I have seen in other children's story books. I also do adore the characters in the show, especially Goldie. I like her trademarked hair, her blue dress, and best of all her cute pink Mary Jane's. All the other characters are perfect, although the boy bear in a beige shirt with green sleeves could use a child actor to do his dialog!

Regardless of that last bit, come join GOLDIE & BEAR - and your favorite fairytale and nursery rhyme characters -- for a magical, song-filled fun set of seven (7) episodes that you'll treasure today ... and ever after!! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Bonus Feature of a FREE Playtime Fun Set Inside!
