'The Lizzie Borden Chronicles'
(Christina Ricci, Clea DuVall, Cole Hauser, et al / 2-Disc DVD / NR / 2016 / Sony Pictures)

DVD Overview: 'THE LIZZIE BORDEN CHRONICLES' delivers an intense and fictionalized account of actual events and people surrounding Lizzie’s life after her controversial acquittal of the horrific double murder of her father and stepmother in 1892, when the exonerated figure lives a life awash in newfound celebrity filled with scandalous love affairs.

DVD Verdict: OK, I have to totally fess up here ... I absolutely LOVE this new TV show! And so should YOU too, but what sucks the big one here is that no one knows/knew about it. Everyone I talk to about this show has no idea that it had even been on TV, let alone there was this beautiful DVD box-set now due to hit the shelves.

Then, when they have been coaxed enough - yes, by me - to check it out and watch it they absolutely love it also! I think what's hurting the knowledge of this show is the fact that it's not advertised as much. Or, shall we say, wasn't at the time these eight (8) episodes originally aired. Mainly because not too many people watch Lifetime would be my guess. Anyway, as you can tell from my words thus far, 'The Lizzie Borden Chronicles' is a GREAT show that, sure, just needed to be advertised a bit more, but nonetheless is quality programming at its finest.

Anyway, I hope there is another season since it fully deserves one - and is set up nicely for one come the end, of course. The lighting and the portrayal of that era is very accurate with some beautiful apparel. After watching the first episode I was a little sketchy as to watch the rest of the show. However, after the second episode continued, the show only became better and better. The plots were more creative and the story was brilliant. Christina Ricci seems to play this role perfectly with her young innocent yet evil looks!

Lizzie is no ordinary murderous psychopath. Her quiet demure adherence to social convention and propriety is not simply a mask but solidly integrated in her persona. There is a menacing wisdom behind her remorseless executions. Whatever the gore, she is placidly pragmatic as though sweeping the dust from her doorstep. With her world set aright and her family safe, she trundles from one perceived threat to another...creatively and brilliantly orchestrating the demise of her next victims.

The soundtrack and filming are very refreshing and different to normal TV shows and therefore adds the spice. I was hooked instantly and watched the entire mini-series throughout the day. Unlike most TV shows, this show manages to make every episode full of twists and action. There isn't a single boring episode throughout. I loved it. I would recommend this TV show to anyone/everyone. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
