'Pronouced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd & Second Helping'
(Lynyrd Skynyrd / Blu ray / NR / 2015 / Eagle Rock)

Overview: Earlier this year, Lynyrd Skynyrd performed their first two studio albums, Pronounced 'L h-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd and Second Helping, live in their entirety for the first time, at two specially staged concerts at the Florida Theater in their home town of Jacksonville, Florida. It was a special occasion for both the act and their fans as the band performed tracks they'd never or rarely played live before alongside classic songs that are an essential part of any Lynyrd Skynyrd live show.

Blu ray Verdict: As an American rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced just like the Blu-ray title imparts, "Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd"), has been at the forefront of their genre ever since, well, basically, Day One! Best known for popularizing the southern rock genre during the 1970s, they originally formed in 1964 as My Backyard in Jacksonville, Florida.

Funnily enough, as this Blu-ray live show goes on to reveal, the band actually used various names such as The Noble Five and One Percent, before coming up with Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1969. The band, as a tour de force thereafter, quickly rose to worldwide recognition on the basis of its live performances and signature tunes "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird". Sadly though, at the peak of their success, three members died in an airplane crash in 1977, putting an abrupt end to the band's most popular incarnation.

The surviving band members re-formed in 1987 for a reunion tour with lead vocalist Johnny Van Zant, the younger brother of lead singer and founder Ronnie Van Zant. Indeed, the re-formed band continues to tour and record with co-founding member Gary Rossington and core members Johnny Van Zant, along with guitarist Rickey Medlocke, who recorded with the band for a short time in the early 1970s. Drummer Michael Cartellone has recorded and toured with the band since 1999 also, so he's as LS as they come these days.

And so, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees (2006) returned to their small hometown of Jacksonville, Florida to play an even smaller venue, the Florida Theater. Performing both their first two studio albums, Pronounced 'L h-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd and Second Helping live in their entirety for the first time ever, these two specially-staged concerts was a rare, and quite spectacular treat for their fans.

Performing tracks they'd never, or rarely played live before alongside classic songs that are an essential part of any Lynyrd Skynyrd live show, this must-have for all LS fans Blu-ray 'Pronouced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd & Second Helping' kicks off with "I Ain't The One," "Tuesday's Gone," and the first up-and-at-'em single, "Gimme Three Steps," and suddenly the whole, small venue (@ 1900 seats) were eating out of their collective hands.

LS, without a shadow of a doubt, still are one of the best rock bands to see live in concert. They once opened up here in Detroit for our own Kid Rock, and man, I never wanted them to leave the stage! This live show, which culminates in the magnificent trio of "Swamp Music," "The Needle And The Spoon, and then, finally, "Call Me The Breeze," was super high energy fun, everyone either one stage or in the audience, having an obvious, visual blast.

Track Listing: 1) I Ain't The One 2) Tuesday's Gone 3) Gimme Three Steps 4) Simple Man 5) Things Goin' On 6) Mississippi Kid 7) Poison Whiskey 8) Free Bird 9) Sweet Home Alabama 10) I Need You'11) Don t Ask Me No Questions 12) Workin' For MCA 13) The Ballad Of Curtis Loew 14) Swamp Music 15) The Needle And The Spoon 16) Call Me The Breeze.

This is a Widescreen (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Feature of:
