'The Regular Show - The Movie'
(Animation / DVD / NR / 2015 / Cartoon Network)
Overview: Mordecai and Rigby are two slackers who work in a city park. When a spaceship from the future crashes in front of them, an intergalactic warrior warns that a Timenado is on the verge of destroying the universe, and they're the only ones who can stop it. Mordecai and Rigby decide to take on the most epic job of their lives, even though it will mean going up against an evil volleyball coach, a talking space toilet and their even more slacker, high school selves.
DVD Verdict: Yes, yes, yes. Agreed, I have never given this show the real time of day that it needed. But, being that I am reviewing it today and that one of my younger work colleagues has insisted that I delve deeply into its sub culture beforehand, well here we go.
Plain and simple, 'The Regular Show cartoon/animation IS hilarious! If you've always wanted a cartoon that's kind of like 'The Hangover' and 'Due Date', then this is perfect for you. I also found out that this cartoon came from a College project. Yes, that's right, this cartoon was created from two projects that J.G. Quintel made for College! And lastly, this is NOT for kids! For those that loved those 90's cartoon network shows, this show IS for you as it is chock full of, well, I guess we'll term it as "hilariousness"!
Indeed, Cartoon Network’s 'Regular Show: The Movie' is also the first full-length feature from the Emmy® Award-winning series, and hits DVD in the U.S. on October 13th, prior to its network premiere this fall. As aforementioned, the story centers around the both Mordecai and Rigby who, after accidentally creating a Timenado, have to go back in time and battle an evil volleyball coach in order to save the universe … and their friendship.
'The Regular Show - The Movie' was a LOT of fun to watch, trust me on this (as avid, regular viewers of the TV show will easily attest to anyway, even without seeing it, most likely!) and I'm sure I will vie wit again.
