'Live at Finsbury Park' [Blu-ray]
(Rage Against The Machine / Blu ray / NR / 2015 / Eagle Rock)

Overview: In late 2009, a successful campaign was launched by Jon Morter and his wife Tracy to promote an alternative to the omnipresent X-Factor winner being the Christmas #1 in the UK singles chart. The track they nominated as the alternative was 'Killing In The Name' by Rage Against The Machine. The band supported the campaign, donated the proceeds from the sales to charity and lead singer Zack de la Rocha promised that Rage Against The Machine would perform a free concert in the UK to celebrate the achievement.

Blu ray Verdict: The infamous American rap metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1991, were seemingly always on board to support this aforementioned campaign (so we're now led to understand, all these years later, so them donating the proceeds from the sales to charity (which they've done en mass of other times throughout their politically charged lyrical career, was a no brainer.

When lead singer Zack de la Rocha promised that the band would perform a free concert in the UK to celebrate the achievement, well, that orchestration seemed a wee bit of an overstretch - given the logistics of the bands touring schedule at the time. Reagrdless, all the pieces came together, and on June 6th, 2010, in London's Finsbury Park, RATM took to the stage and brought the open air "house" to the ground!

Captured live, and now here on Blu-ray for the very first time, 'Live at Finsbury Park' is, to say the least, an exuberant, electric, powerhaus performance by the band with the audience cheering them all the way through to the inevitable, and highly-anticipated climax of, yup, you guessed it, a killer 'Killing In The Name'.

Vocalist la Rocha, bassist and backing vocalist Tim Commerford, guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Brad Wilk all give their all on this dynamite live recording. With a set that, as always fo RATM, draws inspiration from early heavy metal instrumentation, as well as hip hop acts such as Afrika Bambaataa, Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys and Dutch crossover band Urban Dance Squad, the band that have sold over 16 million records worldwide ensured that not only was their promise kept, but that the fans got a show to remember for a lifetime.
