'That Show with Joan Rivers'
(Joan Rivers, Johnny Carson, Steve Lawrence, Ed Sullivan, Florence Henderson, et al / 4-Disc DVD / NR / 2015 / Topics Entertainment)

Overview: What do you get when you put Johnny Carson and the owner of a nudist camp on the same stage? Comedic gold spun by the Queen of Comedy herself, Joan Rivers. Now you can watch her and tons of amazing guest stars in 29 of the funniest episodes from 'That Show's first season in 1968- 69 on 4 DVDs!

DVD Verdict: For those that didn't even know there was a black and white Joan rivers before the older, color version that graced our TV screens in latter years, the TV show known as 'That Show with Joan Rivers' premiered in September, 1968 and actually, sadly, only lasted one season in syndication. That said, while the show only ran for one year, airing on a daily schedule it created a whopping 255 episodes overall!

Each episode had a theme (i.e. natural childbirth, diets) and Joan did an opening monologue based on the day's topic. The show also featured an expert on the subject and a celebrity guest. Indeed, on that note, Johnny Carson was Joan's first ever guest on this syndicated daytime talk show.

Joan Alexandra Molinsky, more commonly known as Joan Rivers, hosted her own syndicated daytime talk show on WNBC-TV of New York City in a manner that might well make some of today's talk show hosts blush! After the opening monologue, then the main star turn guest, there was usually an expert tackling a particular subject - often with hilarious results!

Some of the guests included in these 29 first season episodes include Steve Lawrence, Florence Henderson, Ed Sullivan, Rita Moreno and many more! Trust me, with over 11 hours of the Queen of Comedy's first TV show, there is now stopping this train when it gets going. Funnily enough, directly after the show was pulled from syndication, she went straight into the recording studio and released two comedy albums, The Next to Last Joan Rivers Album] and Rivers Presents Mr. Phyllis & Other Funny Stories. This is a Full Screen Presentation (1:33.1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
