'The Royal Wedding: William & Catherine'
(DVD / NR / 2011 / BBC Home Video)

Overview: The royal wedding of Prince William to Kate Middleton was the event of a lifetime. BBC Video is making available this beautiful, commemorative DVD of the event on sale on May 24th! This wonderful keepsake will capture all of the pomp and pageantry of the historic occasion like no other memento.

DVD Verdict: Like many others that didn't have the luxury of the BBC Channel on their TVs, I watched the live broadcast on ABC with friends, very early back a morning or two ago (or so it seems to me now!) With no complaints by any of us re: the American coverage, other than the early hour, now watching this official BBC coverage means yes, it would have been more preferable to behold.

That said, the actual event itself was breathtaking beautiful, no matter which TV station you were tuned into, in whichever country. The ceremony itself needed no commentary and, sensibly, hardly any was provided. But the effort of holding their breath for so long left a few observers light-headed for the post-match analysis. "It was a bit of a dream," Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas finally spoke. "Even though it was almost a fairytale, it was also real."

Well, yeah, duh! But, and with that said, in truth if the Royal Wedding was a Super Bowl, the media's lead-up - which began in November and continued right up until 6:19 a.m. when the couple exchanged their vows - was the world's longest and most excruciating pre-game show!!

Anyway, it is for sure known that DVDs like this will surely become as precious as the Lady Diana related DVDs/CDs. The torch has finally been passed. The world watches William and Kate. Let's face it, around the world, all take notice of the British monarchy - forever. It will be so 100 years from now. Own a piece of history now! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Feature of:

William and Kate: A Royal Engagement – Narrated by Sophie Raworth, this special presents the story of William and Kate’s relationship including interviews with colleagues, friends and family.
