'Wordworld: Birthday Party!'
(DVD / NR / 2015 / PBS)

Overview: Emmy Award Winner for Outstanding Children's Animated Program, 'WordWorld' is a CGI animated television series that debuted on PBS Kids. It was produced by The Learning Box and WTTW-TV. The series premiered on September 3, 2007 and ended on January 17, 2011 with 80 episodes and 3 seasons. These five fun stories are grouped together and titled 'Birthday Party!'

DVD Verdict: The WordFriends love to celebrate birthdays! First, it's DOG's birthday, but can FROG get the cake safely to his party without ruining the surprise? Then it's PIG's turn to celebrate, and his nephews are making his a secret present - could it be a jet? And for FROG's party, DUCK recycles some old words to make the perfect candle for his birthday treat.

The loveable WordFriends take children on adventures in a world of words where they encounter all sorts of situations that can only be solved by building a word! Playfully demonstrating the connections between letters, sounds, words and meaning, WordWorld empowers children to advance from learning letters to learning how to read.

The episodes contained on this brand new 'Wordworld: Birthday Party!' DVD are: 'Happy Birthday, Dog,' 'Pig's Present,' 'The Rainbow Birthday Cake,' 'Bit by Bit,' and 'Bugs to the Rescue.'

WordWorld, where words come alive in apps and games, videos, and printable activities also features a Watch & Learn section, which features three highly endorsed subjects: 1. Letter and word sounds, 2. Blending word parts into words, and 3. Build confidence - reading is fun! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
