'Tarzan'
(Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke, et al / DVD / PG / 2015 / Lionsgate)

Overview: During an expedition to a remote African jungle, the Greystoke family's helicopter crashes, leaving one survivor: the young boy J.J., nicknamed Tarzan. Raised by gorillas, Tarzan lives by the laws of the jungle - until he encounters another human being, the courageous and beautiful Jane Porter. For Tarzan and Jane, it's love at first sight - and the beginning of a thrilling adventure - as Tarzan uses his instincts and intellect to protect his jungle home and the woman he loves..

DVD Verdict: My goodness! As we all should well know by now, there have been numerous incarnations of Edgar Rice Burrough’s popular character Tarzan. This brand new entry, simply named 'Tarzan' is slightly different in that it used motion capture animation to deliver a new, shall we say "reimagined vision" of the popular character.

Featuring Twilight’s Kellan Lutz in the lead role, undertaking the most iconic of jungle characters in such a manner that he really does try to live up to the years of hype that's gone before.

Without giving too much away, as Lionsgate have definitely tried to bring this film / character into the here and now, we open with a meteor destroying the dinosaurs and in twenty minutes takes us to Tarzan with the apes. Jane enters the picture shorty thereafter. It seems this meteor has some sort of power or energy. It also has it own ecosystem unique to the rest of the planet.

Jane is with the bad guys who want to take over meteor land. They want to kill Tarzan, because he is a Greystoke. So, can Tarzan save Jane's life and the life that he's known all around him also? Well, buy this film now and find out, because if you appreciate the art of animation and have an open mind and are not stuck living in the past on how "classic characters" SHOULD be depicted, then you should enjoy this. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
Behind The Scenes with Kellen Lutz and Spencer Locke
"Becoming Gorillas" Featurette
"The Making of Tarzan" Featurette
