'Dolphin Tale 2' (Blu-Ray + DVD + Digital HD)
(Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Nathan Gamble, et al / Blu ray + DVD / PG / 2014 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: The team of people who saved Winter's life reassemble in the wake of her surrogate mother's passing in order to find her a companion so she can remain at the Clearwater Marine Hospital.

Blu ray Verdict: Tail-less dolphin Winter is threatened with being relocated when her long term companion Panama dies and, given the patronage she attracts, this means that the future of the Florida sea life rescue and hospital center where she lives is under threat.

This sequel to a 2011 family film features many returning cast members, and continues the gently dramatic story of the handicapped dolphin and the sea life center where she lives. It is a pleasing film, if not especially surprising. I'm not particularly sentimental about animals, but there were a number of times when the film brought lumps to my throat. Returning director Charles Martin Smith cameos and also acts as the screenwriter, which is a nice role for him to undertake. Also, as one would have hoped given the star power, the actor performances serve the story well.

Nathan Gamble's portrayal of Sawyer is excellent, and his story tells us that our life should never stop. It should always keep going, evolving, always seeing the bigger picture. That life goes on and we should try to explore it. That there is a life other than in the box that were living. Don't be afraid to try new things because it will help us to grow to be a better person.

In truth, I don't want to tell you too much more, but the story touches your heart in many ways. You have to ask yourself, How much do dolphins see, feel, or even understand with regard us humans and their surroundings, in general? Do they grieve? Do they experience stress? Do they love? This movie will have you asking these questions, and, I'm sure, coming to your own conclusions. Oh, and as a fun fact, this actually marks the fifth time that Morgan Freeman has worked with Ashley Judd! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

- Dolphin Tale 2: Underwater Magic
- Dolphin Tale 2: True Story
- Look Who's Running The Show
- Bethany Hamilton Meets Winter
- Dolphin Tale 2: The Mission
- Cozi Zuehlsdorff - "Brave Souls"
- Gavin DeGraw - "You Got Me"
- Blooper Reel
