'In Search Of Ancient Mysteries'
(Rod Sterling / DVD / NR / 2014 / Film Chest)

Overview: 'In Search of Ancient Mysteries,' presented by Rod Serling, takes a look at the mysteries of the ancient world and its connection with aliens. The success of this TV documentary lies within the strange findings in statues, cave paintings and writings that suggest that people belonging to the distant past may have been more sophisticated than we thought, or may have actually had contact with aliens or some other advanced civilization.

DVD Verdict: 'In Search Of Ancient Mysteries' is, as always, narrated by the one and only Rod Serling, and it is just so great to hear his voice again. Never missing a beat, he once again focuses on mysterious visitors to Earth who may or may not be our ancestors, depending on what the viewer chooses to believe.

The success of this documentary led to the popular, long-running TV series, 'In Search Of ..' 91976-1982), hosted by Leonard Nimoy ('Star Trek').

This 1973 film is considered much more grounded in reality than other similar documentaries by speaking with scientists and scholars rather than throwing out weird theories. Indeed, 'In Search of Ancient Mysteries' presents its case in a clinical, matter-of-fact way that is interesting, if a little bit dry (for my taste, at least).

Showing my age, I actually remember seeing both this and the other special back when I was in school! They served their purpose in peaking my interest in such matters and as 'In Search Of Ancient Mysteries' has just been re-released by Film Chest, I would definitely suggest you take another look into the Ancient Mysteries of our primitive and possibly Extraterrestrial world. This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.37:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
