Overview: Award-winning comedy drama and PBS favorite 'Last Tango in Halifax' returns for a second season as the two childhood sweethearts work to finally make a life together.

DVD Verdict: Funnily enough, writer Sally Wainwright based the story of 'Last Tango in Halifax:' on the experience of her mother Dorothy who was put in touch with her childhood sweetheart Alec via Friends Reunited after being widowed at the ago of 75. Alec had also recently been widowed. The couple fell in love all over again and got married.

As for this wonderful, truly delightful show and the second season herein, I have just seen the last episode of season 2 ... and it just blew me away! I came into the series at a late date, but got hooked right away. What I like about it is that there are real people with real problems handling them in such clumsy ways that are easily recognizable for most of us. And bless them all.

Now - after seeing them fumble and fall in their relationships with one another for 2 seasons - I did not really know what to expect from this last episode. Well there are some really good writers on this show, that for damn sure! I won't give the ending away, but I salute you, one and all!

And look very much forward to season 3. May it soon come. Again, I have intentionally not revealed any spoilers because this is one to see. The whole series - yeah - but, for me the ending of season 2 sums up the brilliance of Alan (Derek Jacobi) and Celia (Anne Reid) aka 'Last Tango in Halifax.'

Oh, by the way, did you know the show was actually entitled 'Antony & Cleopatra' for months before being renamed?! No, nor did I - funny that! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.78:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
