'Joint Body'
(Alicia Witt, Bellamy Young, Tom Guiry, Ryan O'Nan, Mark Pellegrino, et al / DVD / NR / (2011) 2014 / Level 33 Entertainment)

Overview: After his ex-wife bars him from seeing their daughter, a parolee finds kinship with a troubled woman who helps him re-evaluate his life.

DVD Verdict: 'Joint Body,' which has not only spent a few years on the shelf, but has undergone a cosmetic cover art upgrade, is not as bad; or as cheesy as it sounds. In fact, for my money it is severely underrated and still very much unknown at this juncture.

I have no idea why. Everything about it is absolutely fantastic. The acting is great and believable all around (hats off to Mark Pellegrino especially) and the plot is well-written and kept me wanting more until the very end.

OK, sure it has a rather odd ending that I couldn't make sense of, but that shouldn't take away from the movie; or should put anyone off from re-watching it though. Maybe you just have to leave it up to your own imagination as to what happens?

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is a fan of Pellegrino's work, or just someone who enjoys a great underrated movie. With so many fast-paced movies out there, this one is bound to treat you to something a little different than the usual. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
