'Misfits - Series 4'
(Joe Gilgun, Matthew McNulty, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Karla Crome, Nathan McMullen, et al / 3-Disc DVD / NR / 2013 / BBC Home Video)

Overview: The fourth season from this E4 comedy drama still follows a gang of teenage outsiders who find themselves saddled with superpowers after getting caught up in a storm. Although in this next installement of the hit show, newcomers Jess (Karla Crome), Finn (Nathan McMullen) and Alex (Matt Stokoe) are introduced to the madness also.

DVD Verdict: Sorry, but in truth, and although I have been a HUGE fan of this show since day one, 'Misfits' has officially jumped the shark now! This fourth season of the show only features two (2) original cast members, of which we lose one during the season, doesn't show them using their powers nearly as much as the show was intended, and throws them episode after episode into stupid, ridiculous, and manic escapades that wouldn't happen to normal people on a daily basis!

The first episode gets off the ground running from the off as Rudy (Joe Gilgun) is seemingly now the Probation Officer and both he and Seth (Matthew McNulty) are searching for a briefcase chock full of money - severed from a handcuffed hand! Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) is locked in a freezer, and new Community Care workers Jess (Karla Crome) and Finn (Nathan McMullen) have arrived right smack dab in the middle of it all. Oh, and add to that the dark "humor" and wicked dialogue of the real new Probation Officer Greg (Shaun Dooley) and the shark has well and truly been jumped this time!

By the second episode, we discover Finn has a secret locked away at home, Rudy is homeless, and Greg the PO is getting nastier and weirdly nastier to them all. By episode three "Rudy" is shown leaving prison, but it's just another one-episode-shot plot twist, and Finn (who is in love with Jess, who is in love with "sexy bar man" Alex) is trying his hardest to break them up. And yet he (Alex) has the most ludicrous secret of all! IN episode four, someone pretending to be a trainee PO, Lola has a game plan of her own for Curtis, which brings us to the first real sadness of the season.

In episode five, Finn looks for his real father, in what turns out to be some deep down bleak scenes, and Alex's secret is "revealed". And yet we all knew what it was back a few episodes ago, bro! Oh, BUT, the scene where Greg is accidently discovered singing FGTH in a karaoke bar is priceless! Not only because of the scene itself, but it's atually the actor singing it himself (you can tell, given his vocal tone)!

In the sixth episode, they all go to a house/flat party to drink and trip, but the guy running it has tripped and due to his power brought a white bunny in a suit with laser red eyes and a golf club to stalk the hallways killing people! In the seventh episode, out of nowhere we get a new recruit in Abbey (Natasha O'Keeffe - although you'd have thought he would have come in earlier as she's on the bloody cover art!) who is a breath of fresh dry comedic air. It's her episode, this one, save for the fact that Rudy is now in love - with a Nun!

In the final episode, Rudy tracks down his Nun, breaks her out of a convent (headbutting a Sister in the process!) and settles her in back at the Community Center. An episode of sex and relationships for them all, it's a weak one until the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse arrive! Well, Four BMXboys of the Apocalypse, to be more exact! In the end another one has died, and one is in critical condition in hospital - which is where the camera lingers and the end shot goes black! So, being that there is already a fifth season in the UK this means there will be results and outcomes to all their misadventures for another year, at least! These are all Widescreen Presentations (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and come with the Special Features of:
