'The Watch' (Combo Pack)
(Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, et al / 2-Disc Blu ray+DVD / R / 2012 / 20th Century Fox)

Overview: There's trouble brewing in peaceful Glenview, Ohio. That's why four civic-minded citizens, armed with flashlights, walkie-talkies and spiffy new jackets, have teamed up to safeguard their community. But the guys find more than they bargained for when they uncover an alien plot to destroy Earth, and now these bumbling heroes are Glenview's only chance to save the neighborhood - and the world - from annihilation!

DVD Verdict: 'The Watch' (formerly entitled 'Neighborhood Watch' until the PC-police arrived due to that incident in Florida) draws easy comparisons to 'Ghostbusters,' but who would have guessed that from ALL the TV ads for it?! I mean, wow, I had only seen the TV ads, not read any reviews, and suddenly BAM! Out of nowhere this thing turns into (the highly-underrated) 'Attack The Block'!

In one of the opening scenes, Evan (Ben Stiller) the manager of the local Costco, stands tall and utters the iconic movie phrase, "Our society has rules and one of them is you can not kill someone and take their skin, it's not cool. And with that I'm forming a neighborhood watch." Trust me, it makes way more sense once you see the film!

Basically this whole mess begins when Evan comes to work and finds one of his employees dead. Thinking he knows just who to catch the killer, and not really all that shocked by the skinning, he sets up a Neighborhood Watch. Even though only three people show up in his front room, he still vets the one by one. And so, once that is over and he enlists them all, the group sets out to rid the town of crime - and stumble across something else that nobody was EVER prepared for!

In truth, it was panned badly by the critics - of the reviews I skimmed over before getting to it tonight myself - but I do have a soft spot for Stiller; and Richard Ayoade (as Jamarcus), although better known as the sardonic Moss from 'The IT Crowd', is always my cup o' tea! Vince Vaughn (as Bob) was toned down for this, and Jonah Hill (as Franklin) was definitely hyped up!

So, if you're looking for a movie to put in with some friends on a Saturday night; one that is full of medium-sized laughs and plenty of sexual innuendos, well, then this is just perfect for the occasion!still a good choice. This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:
