'Richard Simmons: Sweatin' to the Oldies Vol. 2'
(Richard Simmons, et al / DVD / NR / (1990) 2008 / TimeLife)

Overview: In Volume 2 you get more more more of everything youloved in the original Sweatin to the Oldies®! More of thebest hits from the 50s and 60s performed by a live rock n roll band; more great people (all shapes and sizes)sweatin off the calories; more of the low-impact aerobicexercise fans like; all led by the ever-enthusiasticultra-motivating Richard Simmons.

DVD Verdict: The 20th Anniversary edition of 'Sweatin' to the Oldies' (1-4) is Richard Simmons classic workout from the late 80's available for the first time on DVD and including sixty minutes of brand new bonus material! It's a breakthrough exercise DVD that combines classic Rock 'n' Roll music from the 50's and 60's with energetic dance moves.

Basically, think "Aerobics for Dummies!" Richard gets you off the couch and inspires you like no one else can. This workout is truly fun. The live band is great, and such a refreshing change from the recorded 'sound-alike' tracks that are so commonplace today. He uses a spectrum of people as cast members, from those who are aerobics teachers to those just 'getting started.' The routines are easy to follow, and not too strenuous for those who are trying to lose weight and get into shape.

That said, people who work out hardcore probably won't be very challenged by this workout. However, for people like me, who this video was designed for, this is a GREAT way to start getting in shape. It isn't tooooo difficult, but it does make you sweat and your muscles will ache the next day! You can keep up without feeling stupid. The moves aren't too complicated. And best of all, the music is great! For everyone annoyed or intimidated by those other workouts, this is the one for you!

Indeed the routines get progressively difficult through the series (Sweatin' 3 and 4), so buy the whole set. It's a great price, and will provide with you with that jump start to fitness!
