'The Fugitive - Season One, Vol. Two'
(David Janssen, Barry Morse, et al / 4-Disc DVD / NR / 2008 / Paramount)

Overview: Dr. Richard Kimble is accused to be the murder of his wife. The night before his execution he escapes. The only chance to prove his innocence is to find the man who killed hi wife. Kimble persecuted by the Lt. Gerard risks his life several times when he shows his identity to help other people out of trouble.

DVD Verdict: The adventures of David Janssen as The Fugitive continue. One of the best dramas of the 60's, season 1 is now completely on DVD with this four disc, 15 episode set. In this set we finally get a real look at the one-arm man. He even has some lines in that episode "Search in a Windy City". Janssen actually sees him on a bus leaving Chicago but, of course, he doesn't catch up to him.

The premise of The Fugitive was the character Richard Kimble, a doctor, has been wrongly convicted of murdering his wife. Fate moves in its own way, a train wreck leads to Kimble escaping from Lt. Gerard. This allowed the producers of the program to basically do an anthology series but having a recurring character. Richard Kimble travels the country searching for the one arm man. Along the way he takes on odd jobs. Invariably his personal morals are tested as is his doctor's code of ethics. Many times these lead to a brush with the law which is the last thing Kimble wants.

I just learned the sad news that Barry Morse, who played Lt. Philip Gerard, has passed away at age 89. How ironic that we should lose him just as this fabulous show is finally being released on DVD. His performance as the police Lt. bent on catching Dr. Richard Kimble will always remain one of the greatest in TV history.

Anyway, major guest stars in the 15 episodes include Telly Savalas, Carroll O'Connor, Gloria Graham & Gilbert Roland. Watch as Kimble interacts with those who help him and those who try to cause him harm and injustice. This is an outstanding DVD set but, as with the first set, this doesn't have any frills or bonuses, there aren't any subtitles, either. This is a Full Screen Presentation (1.33:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs but (as mentioned above) does not come with any Special Features.
