'Confess'
(Ali Larter, Eugene Byrd, et al / DVD / NR / (2005) 2007 / MTI Home Ent.)
Overview: Terell (Byrd), a disillusioned ex-hacker, uses strategically placed spy-cams to capture compromising footage of those who slighted him in the past, broadcasting the video via the Internet. Recognizing its power, and working in tandem with his accomplice Olivia (Larter), Terell targets CEOs, politicians, and members of the power elite. Soon his every action is front-page news, law enforcement has labeled him a new breed of terrorist, and the movement he spawned is now spiraling out of control!
DVD Verdict: A computer genius / ex-hacker Terell Lessor (Eugene Byrd) returns to New York in an attempt to find a new job. Unfortunately he faces his old business partner who cheated
him in the past by stealing his software and making millions off of it. Terell begins personal revenge schemes by placing spy cams within offices, recording those he targets to get to the truth behind large corporations.
Sure it's been done before, but what hasn't these days? I mean, hackers getting into your computer, stealing valuable info, watching your
every move with your webcam, and stealing your identity in a flick of a switch. Hmmm, that's todays society to a tee unfortunately. But first time director Stefan Schaefer's 'Confess' is actually a very
well written, well filmed movie - for the most part.
Eugene Byrd (8 Mile) makes the most of his starring role - after all thes years in the business - where as actress Ali Larter (Heroes) doesn't hvae much of a role to expand into here. I think her name was brought in as she was bored on day and needed the rent paid! So, if you're looking for a good thriller that has a strong message about Internet hackers this is the one for you! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1.85:1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs.
