'Happy Feet Two' (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
(Elijah Wood, Pink, Brad Pitt, Robin Williams, et al / 2-Disc Blu ray+DVD / PG / 2012 / Warner Bros.)

Overview: The sequel to "Happy Feet", the Academy Award®-winning animated smash hit, "Happy Feet Two" returns audiences to the magnificent landscape of Antarctica. Mumble, The Master of Tap, has a problem because his tiny son, Erik, is choreo-phobic!

Blu-ray/DVD Verdict: Let me say this first - I really don't understand all the bad reviews! Sure it is not as good as the first one, and yes it runs too long, but it DOES feature great dance moves, wonderful new songs, and some very cuddly moments for the kids to enjoy!

The scene work is superb; animation is excellent, but all was completely ruined by the so-called story line! To call it an utter failure is unust, but to call it a 'cash in' flick would definitely be more on the mark.

Allow me to explain: 'Happy Feet' (1) was the cute story of a penguin, dropped at birth, miraculously survives but becomes a dancer instead of a singer, hereby betraying his heritage. Yet after a lengthy journey, he helps unite everybody by song and dance and everyone lives happily ever after.

Okey dokey, fair enough. But, 'Happy Feet Two' is about the same penguin all grown up and with a son of his own, plus his two friends, going on a trip to another land, and finding a pelican that other penguins worship. He tells his story in the end without any lies, and helps save the colony from being crushed to death by the glaciers, without knowing that the undersea creatures are helping out as well!

Oh yeah, and add to the mix that his son can dance!

So, yes, in the big picture, this movie is simply trying to ride the popularity of the first, and suck as much money out of a substandard project as possible. Sorry, but there it is. The movie was OK for very young children, but for the rest of us, well, enjoy the fastforward button on your players! This is a Widescreen Presentation (1:77.1) enhanced for 16x9 TVs and comes with the Special Features of:

Helping Penguins and Pals
How to Draw a Penguin
I Taut I Taw a Putty Tat
3 Sing-A-Longs
